Any one have any ice reports for the area.
Looking to get out on Caribou later this week, if I don't have to swim.

Any been out and know how the ice is on the local lakes? Looking to get out this week before season is over for walleye. I think the melt might have made a big mess out there.
Thanks for the info.

Rice lake can be very tricky. There are many currents in there and the lake has some real thin ice areas. I have known 3 people that fell in over the years. If there is a road, that must be a local, but going out on your own is a risky call. We do well with walleyes in the early spring, before the weeds grow. It is not really that deep of a lake, so if you can find a deeper hole, that is where I would start.

Again, I try and avoid there, just because of what has happened in the past.

Just my 2 cents....

I have not heard much about the river or harbor, but the inland lakes sound pretty hot right now. This very cold snap might effect that, but Dec and early Jan were really good inland.

Thanks for the info

Just got back from the local hockey game, I was very surprised to come out and find that the whole harbor, by the lift bridge is now open water again.

There were people fishing and even 4 wheelers out there yesterday.

This rain is crazy!!

The ice has got a solid 8" of nice black ice, and about 3" of hard muck ice. There is about 8" of snow on top of that.

We were in 17 FOW fishing about 2' off the bottom. Glow pink was the VERY hot color, with a minnow.
Get it glowing and they were hitting on the drop.

From what I hear, most all the in land lakes are about the same condition up here. Starting to see more houses on the lakes, and small cars driving around. However, I am waiting for awhile.

Looking to get out friday again!!

Had one of the best nights of crappie fishing I have seen. A buddy and me went out and got at least 40 crappies on the ice. We kept 12, but only because we set a min size of 12" to keep them. For 2 straight hours it was hot and heavy. I am loving the early ice action around here.

i have heard those filters can plug pretty easy. I would try it direct, and see if that works. If not, sounds like a bad heater. I love my Big buddy heater. it works great, but I do not use a filter.
