Not sure about the St.Cloud area, but Timjo is in Fridley only about an hour away. Look him up on LSF. If you want a replica you and your daughter enjoy looking at every day then I strongly recommend letting him do it.

He is the best hands down.

I have the iPhone Navionics app. I can see some countours when I zoom way in but very sporatic and nothing that would help me find a subtle structure to fish. I have never "downloaded map" with this app before...will that help?

Thanks for the advice. You guys have all been helpful.

I think I am just going to buy a new bit from D-Rock in New Brighton...$139.99.

Dew2 - I'm wasn't planning to scrap it, but I'd be willing to sell for $30 with the blades removed. I will be relatively close to you this weekend, traveling to Redwood Falls, passing through Olivia. PM me if interested.

No, I don't have the piece that broke off. I can see why that would make it an easier job.

Thanks for offering to assist...Willmar is a little out of range for me but I do appreciate it.

Maybe it is better if I just cough up the cash for a new bit. I need my auger to be cutting true!

Good suggestion...but...
I just searched Craigslist and didn't see any 8" Lazer auger bits!

Looking for recommendations on where to go for welding repair in the Northwest Metro area.

My Lazer Mag auger recently broke off the power point (the knife-like point in the center of the auger bit). The entire steel piece where the power point affixes is missing. I've tried using the auger and it just spins on top of the ice without the PP sticking it in place.

The Power Point part is cheap, but I have no idea how much to expect for this type of weld repair.

Any help is appreciated as I really do not want to drop $150 to buy a whole new auger bit.

I've tried this lake a couple times through the ice. Haven't been out there this year though.

It sure looks like a promising lake on Lakefinder, but I drilled all over the place and couldn't find water deeper than 6 feet! I finally gave up trying to find any structure and set up shop in the middle of the lake. Had a few decent sized pike on tip ups and some random bluegills that measured around 8 inches.

I think if a guy put a lot of time in out there or just got lucky you could do well.

Let me know if you get out there...I'd love to hear the report.

The crappies in lakes around Maple Grove are severely overharvested and it if you can find a fish 10 inches + it is a trophy.

Eagle is full of 4-6 inch crappies.

Medicine is full of 6-8 inch crappies

Weaver has a decent number of 8-9 inch crappies
