Again guys lets compaire apples to apples. I can drill 200 holes on a 1lb tank if the ice is 12-14 iches thick. If the ice is 36" thick I might click in around 100? Turns out your auger will do much of the same maybe plus or minus 25 holes. I am here only to state the facts that I have learned with my auger and I think thats what the question was at hand. He wants to know about propane. I spent last year counting holes per spot and making sure I understood how this beast worked. I averaged about 17 holes per spot. It never failed me. My thing was to eliminate gas. It worked. Jiffy will come out with there gas four stroke and I will try that also. But until then...

Love mine and totaly disagree. The are not heavy as hell. They are heavy when compared to a plastic auger. Compare apples to apples here. Mine ran just fine in the coldest of weather and being left outside. Most of my buddies will be switching over to propane. At this point Jiffy is the only one know of. I would say it was harder to remember to set the auger down the correct way because it is a four stroke.

Rich I guess that is what I meant by the comment but did not type 4 stroke. A person is used to hearing the sound of two stroke and seeing the ice fly! This is 4 stroke no wild noise and the same ice throwing power!

I was on the fence when I got mine and have turned into a firm believer at this point. I am at about 130 holes through 12-14 inches of ice on my first tank. I drill about 20 holes per fishing spot and weight has never ben an issue to date. I get more people on the ice asking to drill a hole with it than you can believe. I have also left it outside with tank attached in 7 degree weather and started in 3 pulls. It is a little deceviing because it doesnt sound like a two stroke but has plentiy of power!
