Find yourself a time machine and go back about 16 years. Hard to believe the crappie boom was that long ago, now I'm feeling old.

I have been using a Weber Q 2000 for several years now, great little grill. I use it for tailgating, camping, fishing and I use it at home quite a bit as well. The only maintenance I have had to do is clean out the burner once a year as the holes tend to plug up a little, easy job.

The same could be said for most lakes in southern Mn. I am sure quite a few houses will need to be chipped out of the ice by the end of the week.

Lock de-ice and or a small torch, and wipe your door seals down with silicone spray. Keeping a window cracked may help a bit as well.

I'll be in the Huntersville area, hope to fill my tag early Saturday then stay dry in camp the rest of the time. Well maybe not completely "dry", I'm sure of that.

Sure, if you can keep a battery tender hooked up to it and keep an eye on it from time to time. But if you put the boat away and don't look at it all winter I would remove them.

I started using a cyclone tube on the end of my grinder and it works great especially if you have a helper and a foot pedal for the grinder. Its basically a funnel that attaches to the end of the grinder and has a tapered auger that fits on the end of your grinders auger and pushes the meat into the funnel.

I'm up here this week hitting several lakes in the area and it is kinda hit and miss with the storms coming through on a daily basis. About the only thing that has been consistent for me is getting the best luck using leaches.

I really like my 3100 Champion, the electric start is just a bonus. For a few bucks a guy can add a fuel pump and have it run off an external tank. And the oil changes are extremely simple - no mess, a drain hose is already attached.

There are many lakes in MN that would satisfy your needs but most of them are what I would consider fairly small and could get hit pretty hard if they are mentioned on a fishing forum. But it's a pretty safe to say lakes like Rainy and Kabetogama can produce some huge crappies and you could keep fish and not hurt the fishery. With the late spring we are having I would have to believe the crappies will still be easy to find in shallow water in northern MN well into June.
