Cant go wrong with Lorin or Cameron mentioned above. They are both very good Captains and friends of mine.

If they do not have the date you are looking for check us out at Duluthsportfishing.com.
We fish a tournament rigged 38' Ocean Super Sport. The end of May is the best time of the year to fish for coho and lakers.

Lots of pictures on our face book page.

I was contacted by Erik to help his son catch a laker this fall. His son Willie had list of 10 fish he wanted to land during the 2015 open water season. I was glad to help him land his first lake trout. Erik made a cool little video of our trip.

The water is warming up and so is the fishing. Water temps are now reaching the low 50's between Duluth and Superior out to 80 fow. All of our fish came out of the tea colored or real muddy water. I never had a hit in the clear water, but I didn't spend much time in it either. Some of the boats did well in the clear water closer to Duluth. All of the hits on my boat except for one came off the board lines. (20 down on the rigger with flashback mixed veg) We boated 11 fish on the charter trip Saturday and 6 going to get diesel on Sunday. 7 coho, 1 king and 9 lake trout. Best speed was 2.8 and orange sticks were hot. We caught fish next to the beach and all the way out to 90 fow.

That seems very reasonable and on a nice rig, looks like the active fish are in close to shore this time of year, what are the better months to connect with quality fish? Does the north shore put out kings like michigan in july? Curious.

August and September typically have the bigger lakers but it all depends on the wind direction and water temp.

Some years the kings will stay around Duluth but they usually move up the shore. Lake Superior is not comparable to Michigan when you talk about kings. On a good trip we get will get 1 or 2 kings mixed in with the lakers. MN doesn't stock kings.

The boat is a 38' Ocean Yachts Super Sport with twin cat turbo diesels. She is a little over 30,000 pounds with full fuel and water. Cruising speed is 23knots and she has safe range of 250 miles on full tanks.

The weather isn't bad if you dress like your going ice fishing. Half day rates are $450 for 4 customers and $50 for each additional person up to 6 people.

Fished out of the Duluth entry on May 15th and 16th. On Friday the fishable water was closer to the state line in the stained water. We went 6 for 10 all lake trout on thesurface. Pink and red were the hot colors on the sticks. The fish were in a very small area that we kept working through. Saturday the fog was thick and we started fishing halfway down the beach in the muddy water. The mud line moved a longfrom Friday. We were fishing over 70 to 90 fow with all the fish but one comingoff the surface. We 9 for 12 with 2 coho and 7 lakers. All colors worked well and we got one off a dipsy with a flasher.

Lakehead has spots for campers and boat slips. Spirit Lake marina has slips and camping and barkers island has slips and you could get a camp ground near by.
