I haven't been out there yet, but I drive downtown everyday and been seeing lots of shacks out from park point the past 2 days. Not sure on the ice thickness. Anyone been out there to say how much?

Was out on Sarah this morning. From 7 to 11. Was in 16 feet of water. Caught a bunch of crappie and bluegill. Biggest was maybe 9-10 inches for the crappie and 8 for the bluegill. Didn't keep any but it sure was fun. The bluegill were a foot off the bottom while the crappie came in suspended at 12 feet. Very light bite. Went thru a lot of gear to finally find out what they wanted and today it was a glow ratso with a clear pink plastic tipped with 1 red waxie. They came in and grabbed the bait and then just held it there. Half the time I didn't even feel anything. All visual at the rod tip. With the warm weather the snow that was on the lake has melted. Made for a very wet morning. And I'm sure how warm its going to stay tomorrow and with the chance of rain its only gonna get worse. Bring those ice cleats. There was a solid 8 inches of ice everywhere I drilled. Good luck out there and tight lines.

Thank you to all the responses. It has helped me with a "game plan." I now have a notebook dedicated to the cities area with all the lake finder information on the different lakes. I am super excited to fish all new lakes. Finding the fish is half the excitement. Knowing that you made an educated guess and it pays off is such a great feeling. With the help of this site and the Lakefinder I know I have great resources to make those guesses. So I just want to thank you all who have posted something.

Fish ON!

Hey all. I am moving to Plymouth at the end of sept, from Duluth. I am forced to leave my boat behind due to no storage for it. But besides that fact I am a huge ice fisher. I love to target crappie, perch, and walleye. I don't want anyones honey holes or anything like that, but I would love to hear any lakes that are near that produce well. Is medicine lake any good or do I need to drive out a little way from the cities to find the fish. Im not worried about going off the beaten path hit some fish. Thanks all in advance.

Have a great day on the water!!!

Hey all. I am heading up to grand rapids for the first time to fish. I am going out with a couple of buddies. We have decieded between Winni or Bowstring lakes. We are interested in eyes and crappies. Any suggestions on what lake is better for what? Or any helpful hints at all? Thanks for the help in advance.

Nice work MegaDodge! I have yet to find any fish on Fish lake. Haven't had a bite yet. But I was out on Wild Rice Lake on Sunday and managed to pull in about 40 perch. Alot of little guys but a couple of decent ones that made for a good fish fry. Ice was 8 inches then.

Anyone been out on some of the lakes? I am going to Wild Rice Lake Wednesday afternoon the test it out there, and possibly hitting Fish Lake on Friday night.
