I'm heading to California for a friends graduation May 5th. We will be staying in Irvine and was hoping to maybe find a guide or charter for half a day or so and try some ocean fishing. Any input and help is very much appreciated! Thanks.

Awesome! Thanks for the information. I'm gonna hopefully try it this week. Nothing better than late ice!

Very nice fish! Congrats on the PIG! Were they sill relating to deeper basins or starting to come up shallower now?

The bite is also getting a lot tougher everywhere IMO. I used to fish Indy hard, but haven't in a few years. Even a good night would be 3-4 fish.

Me and a friend want to try Clearwater next Monday. I've never fished the lake. Can anyone tell me how the ice is, or the best spot to access the lake? It looks like there is a current. Is it safe to drive, or should you only stay on the west and north of the lake?

Thanks!

I had the same issue today. I'd say one in four actually chased and then one in eight bit. The dead stick didn't even work. Just keep switching presentations. Sometimes I'll even work a plain hook with a split shot about 6" up if they are really finicky. Good Luck!

Made it to my favorite first ice walleye spot in the west metro and had a blast! Fish were aggressive with a spoon tipped with a minnow head. I'd highly suggest if you get a chance to hit the ice! Nothing big, but can't complain for the metro!

Electric all the way. If you are an average ice angler that drills most likely fewer than 50 holes in a day than why would you consider anything else? I mean car companies are moving toward lithium battery cars. I guess it really comes down to how many actual holes you typically drill. If you actually drill 100+ holes than gas and propane will be better. If you are an average angler that probably drills less than 50 holes a day there is really no reason not to have a lithium auger. They are way easier to maintain, lighter, and just as fast at cutting. I think the true question you have to answer is how many holes do you actually drill? That will give you the answer. No matter what you decide as long as it gets you fishing and having fun than that's what matters! Good luck on your decision!
