For most people they are throwaways. Is it scored too deep to hone? I would check with H2O outfitters or D Rock, but you are most likely going to be time and money ahead buying a used powerhead. Those two both may have reconditioned or fishing contest used powerheads.

It's a great time to inspect the axles and all of the pivot system for wear and lubricate everything. Also a great idea to put some never seize lubricant on your lugs. Most shops should have jacks to change them also, but a good idea to ask up front.

I'll be out in 285 which definitely isn't up north, but it's the homeland.

The nils is perfect for conversions because it is lightweight. A strikemaster hand auger will work, but the added weight zaps more power just to turn it. The whole key with the drill focused augers is being light weight.

All my stuff got charged up again about a month ago. The lithium shuttle was still reading 70 percent the recommended storage charge so I left that alone. Both power augers got fired up for a few whiffs of two stroke smoke. Still enjoying fall fishing out the boat tho.

The most common issue with Polaris twins are plugged idle jets leaky needle and seat(floods), weak fuel pumps. Does gas flow from fuel lines when you pull it over to start?

I did an old yamaha three wheeler seat. I bought the cover from Dennis Kirk. It went pretty well, just make sure there isn't any voids in the foam. I used 3m Spray adhesive and a stapler. Stretching it tight is key.

The south end of the lake is "usually" where the fish are schooled. Take the Minnesota lake access types out of your mind. The lake Winnipeg accesses are generally roads that end near the lake with a couple exceptions. From West to East the popular ones on the West are Warner Rd, Chalet beach road. A bunch more further up along the west side of the lake.
Middle south end of lake is End of main on Red river and run the channel out to the lake. East side Pruden creek, Patricia beach, Beaconia, Balsam harbor, Sunset beach, Grand Beach.

Targeting big fish on LOTW ice means a couple specific times/tactics. Early ice shallow out from pine island, focusing on structure, or fishing current. Otherwise plunking down on the mud flats is almost all luck to get into big fish. LOTW would be second under Winnipeg for me. Erie is in the mix, but safe ice requires perfect weather conditions unless you have a hover craft. I have been DIY fishing Winnipeg since 2008. Popular lodging options are South Beach Hotel, Selkirk Inn, Canalta, Lakeview in Gimli or you can find cabin to rent around the lake from private parties.
