I made the run back to Door county with my friends for my second trip to the big water of Lake Michigan. We launched out out of Bailey's harbor for most of the trip and targeted 80-200 fow. Our spread included riggers, dipsy's and boards with spoons and flasher/flys. Our best success was on the wire dipsy's with magnum spoons running 50-70 feet down. We got some nice kings and steelhead and a bunch of nice eating size kings as well. Can't wait to go back again!

It's still above average with trophy fish as compared other bodies of water, but it has definitely changed. The fish have seemed to push out to deeper depths than they have in the past and the schools aren't as large as they used to be. There is a monster year class that was 11-13" two years ago, they were 14-16" last year and should take a nice jump this year. It's the trophy fish potential that draws most people from the states up there. With last year being a down year, I predict another drop in pressure from the states. Last years pressure was noticeably less also. I have some good friends up there so I will still be making the trip.

Winnipeg, Whitefish Bay LOTW, South Basin LOTW are all on the hit list.

The 9.9's get the most features because that is what most people use. Match the main engine. Yamaha, Mercury and Suzuki all make great kicker motors. I have a tiller kicker with electric start and tilt. I added the steering bracket and a panther removable steering rod and I can run it tied to the main for steering or just tiller style. Next thing i want to add would be the trollmaster.

Those two circuits are team based, so you are gonna want to find a partner. The entry fees aren't too bad so if you can find a team mate jump into one. Otherwise look into the Cabela's National walleye tour. On that circuit the pro's are randomly paired with co-anglers. The pro's provide the boat and all the equipment.

I finally got a chance to get out with Walleyesfornothin.
We decided to hit it early on Saturday morning with the predicted heat for the day. Starting off on a weedline working 12-18 ft with some small perch, gills and feisty pike with spinners behind a bottom bouncer. I was pulling crawlers and kyle was pulling leeches. We located walleyes in a couple spots and put a dozen in the boat, selecting a few nice eaters for kyle to take home. Around 10:30 the clouds moved off and the wind died so we opted to pull cranks for a bit. A few more walleyes, perch and gills were caught on various shad baits pulled off the weedline but nothing big enough to keep except for one that got off half way in. We both agreed we had enough and decided to call it a day and beat the heat after a quick zip around the lake to cool off. It was a nice to get out and tighten the lines!
