the small cable coming out of the head is for us2 sonar the larger diameter cable is the actual cable for the link part of the system. you will need another adapter cable to connect it to the helix 7 g2n. I just did the same install and was not happy no one at the retailer or hummingbird themselves chimed in that another cable would be required to finish the install. I ended up finding the cable locally at a fleet farm for 30.00 the part number needed is Humminbird 720074-1 AS EC QDE 700 Series Ethernet Adapter Cable

if your are etherneting more than 1 unit you will also need the Ethernet link box as well.

agree with post above, I use a 5-5.5ft rod med. light with 4lb test a small split shot and a small gold hook with a chunk of crawler. walk the banks and sight fish walk up stream pitch the rig in and let the current do the work. watch the banks as the rig goes down stream, most times you can watch brookies shoot out from the bank and slam the rig. this is how I have been doing it since a young kid and always produces fish. nice and simple

just had a sturgeon come in and get friendly with the camera on the bay of green bay whitefish fishing in 40ft of water, never seen that before on the bay. also had a musky come in on a northern Wisconsin lake earlier this year that I got some recorded video of. hopefully have some really good eel pout video in the next few weeks, these guys like to attack the camera head when they are up on the reefs spawning, pretty cool to see this happening then they slam the jig and minnows when they catch a glimpse of it.

just to clarify the new lx6s comes with a new bag with a strap to carry the unit now not the hole you would have stuck your hand into. very nice upgrade, hole hopping is not an issue and it fits in a 5 gallon pail. I like the lx6s better than the lx5 just for the heads up display and the multiple screens you can use. can not go wrong with either unit.

Just spent 6 nights with Justin at up north fish house rentals, was told right from the first 15min. Of meeting Justin we would be moved everyday if that's what it took to get on fish. With that said have stayed with several outfitters up on url and that was the first time I have ever been told that. Most outfitters move houses before new clients come in and on fresh holes. What they do from there is there discretion. I have been told by some outfitters that they are basically a motel on the lake we rent you a house we do not guarantee you will catch fish out it. Bring a drill and a portable is all I can say, a 75 yard walk from the sleeper could be the 50 fish hole everyone is looking for. We asked our outfitter to place our house the farthest away from the group with the least amount of road noise that always helps too.

No rhyme or reason it was what was working for us. The smaller trebles even on jigs seemed to be loosing more fish on hook sets so we up sized our trebles and our catch rate increased. Had at least 30-40 missed bites where the fish would just grab the minnow and sit and chew it. If you put any type of movement or tension on the line they wold spit it. Very light bite when not in peak feeding times.

Ended up with 158 eyes 2 perch and a small northern after 6 nights in a up north fish house 4 man shack. All fish but 1 eye came in the shack. Big fish for the week was 24.75" with 10 fish between 21" and 23.5". only had 2 fish under 14". Big thanks to Justin and jd at up north fish house rentals. Came home with our 3 man limit with 4 nice fish fry's at jr's. Hot jig for us was a vmc tingle in glow red back and silver front, but #8 red trebles on dead sticks or rattle reels 1-2ft off bottom caught most and the bigger fish. Fishing 4 miles out of Rodgers with 12 ft of water under the 22" of ice we were on all week. Another wonderful week in God's country. Thanks to all on URL that make these memories a possibility.

Up to 75 fish as of 6 this am had a busy night on the rattle reels. Lots of 17-18" last night. Plain red hooks and some red glow mixed in. 12ft of water 4 miles out. Getting a few hrs of sleep then off on a portable mission.
