Lida is a phenomenal panfish lake! Head out and physically look for stands of cabbage weeds: If you find the cabbage use a small jig and a plastic and you will have success on the crappies.

Awesome job Esox! I did find the most action for bigger fish was well after dark. I released a lot of 19+" fish in 2-5 ft. of water from 10:30-12:30 a.m. but for numbers, once the wind died down on Saturday we managed to get on a jig bite that put a six man limit in the boat in a couple of hours. We had a great fish fry and I think everyone who wanted fish to take home was able to bring a limit home with them.
Moving water is still pulling a few shiners up, so I'm sure that's why the walleyes are in there putting on the feedbag! Good time!

DO NOT put it under your homeowners. I did that once.....had a claim after an axel broke and my homeowners insurance went up, and I was unable to move insurance companies since I had a homeowners claim. Get a separate policy: It shouldn't be more than 11-17 bucks a month from what I've seen.

I couldn't agree more! Kirk is just a good person. Checks in on me and my family occasionally, and I know the guy will be ok. Just a chance for some of us that he has impacted, to help brighten the guys day!

Hey All, I will post some more info on the staff side, but for all you members and viewers that know our good buddy, Kirk from the site: He was involved in a car accident and was air lifted from Mankato to Rochester: Sounds like he's banged up but he's tough and will fight through this.
If anyone wants to send a card/well wish or whatever I have his home address and you can PM me if you would like it. (Rather than not post it publicly) He can't have plants until he is out of the ICU but I'm sure a card, fishing lure or words of encouragement would help the time go by.
I'll post the address in the backroom as well. Thanks
T

Sioux, I wasn't calling you out: I'm just getting asked a lot of questions: Remember, some of the reports are coming from people who make their living selling bait/tackle/gear: Yes, there is fishable ice in places, but it just isn't worth it (in my opinion) we have a long season ahead of us, it will be just fine. I too saw guys out with wheelers even last week on HOL:
I see the crowds on the 3-5" of ice at the bridge, I also see people pushing the envelope a bit:
I just hate to see guys making foolish decisions because they assume the ice is good after seeing reports.
Ice conditions are varying a ton in the area and until we get some 0 degree nights, I'm not getting on the ice:
Just my 2 cents.
T

Not safe yet in my opinion: Too many guys are taking some really foolish chances. The cold is coming: Give it another week and reassess. No fish is worth putting others at risk to attempt to save you and your stuff.
