Fished the lake today. 3 of us. 1-28, 2-26, 1-24 and 18 eaters. Had one heavy one open my snap and lost a heavy one at bottom of the hole.
Pruden is pretty much shot due to the mud on the trail to the creek. Better to use Beconnia.
10ft the best off of the Brokenhead creek

Question: we spend alot ot $ and rely on these fantastic pieces but they are very sensitive. I normally travel via sled and was wondering what others protect theirs during travel?
Ideas PLEASE

Hit and miss. Personally I have found the number of masters are not there. Yes, there are still masters but one has to work for them, that is why they call it fishing not catching
Last 2 days I either heard or saw a 31 1/2 " caught and released.
The COLD weather over New Years then turning to melting I think has thrown off any pattern.
One catches more if you leave the couch and hit the ice
Hint, very little fishing pressure on the east side.

Access to Lake Winnipeg from Pruden is pretty much limited to track vehicles. Snow had blown in and these warm conditions have caused trucks to get stuck.
Warner Rd, Balsalm Bay (road 100), Sunset (road 103) and Beconnia is good for pretty much all vehicles (with common sense).
Patricia Beach has a high bank and as of a couple days ago no one had tried it.
Once on the lake there is ice chunks you will have to dodge and of course pressure ridges popping up. One punched up today and may have changed guys route off Big Windy, this is why I use my sled.

CHALET is closed due to the amount of large units going down onto the ice and getting stuck. Access on the west side now by Warner, could get muddy there too.

Pruden: the stretch to the creek is a mud fest but the creek good,

Balsalm, 103 and Beconnia access is good.

We have not had any real melt with temps being around -10 at night and zero during the day. That means the snow that drifted is hard and if any real hot temps quads could be a problem. Next week does not look like a real hot one though so quads on wheels should work. Lots of truck every where but seeing several stuck as well.

My favorite travel right now is still sled but wish I had a fan cooled sled. Suppose to be a light dusting of snow Sunday evening.

Lots of big fish being caught (yesterday in 4 hrs I iced 19 largest 28 1/2)
