For the $ you can't really go wrong with it. It works great, you can download more detailed info on certain lakes. I was up to the Rainy River with it working on the phone and it was quite nice. Were able to get right to the spots we wanted. Used it up in the boundry waters ice fishing also. I have no complaints about it yet.

I don't think that it is a Muskrat by any means. Their tails are skin not furry like the one in the pic. You might have found a new species over there. Is there a farm around that area where there might be some cats running around. Even then. Look how big the deer are in the pics about the same length away. That animal has to be much larger than a fisher/martin with a non-buchy tail.

All lakes have turned to slush or stanging water. Should be good once everything freezes though.

I live about a mile away from the Lakes on Lax Lake. there is some really good pike fishing in there during the winter. If you are going to go out on the lake I would bring some sucker minnows and some tipups pretty easy fishing. There are days we have caught 30 Pike and a couple in th 5-6lb range. Don't forget to bring snow shoes. the x-country ski's might not help in the 2-3ft of powder. Good luck and let us know how things. go.

Parp

You must have been in the roughly same area as me that morning. It was -28 at the truck and -29 at the lake. Didn't have that good of luck. I am interested to find out what size/color CD you were using and how you jig them for trout. I have tried them but no luck. I'll PM you also.

Your auto policy does not cover personal property in your veh. Your Homeowners would but it is subject to a Deductable.

Another way to avoid this is make sure the back of your pickup isn't facing the road. If they don't know that it's there they aren't going to take it.

I have stayed there about half a dozen times. The cabins are simple. But thats all you need. Better rates then most the others and we always catch fish. The fishhouses are nice and like the other guy said they are constantly moving houses. From one day to the next you might be fishing in a totally different spot. Highly recommended. We are heading up there end of the month for the weekend.

There are some great trout lakes up there also. Usually the slush isn't a problem in January. Best bet is to look at the Lake Finder and pick out a lake. One problem with around here is that there are so many lakes you don't get the large numbers of people fishing them in the winter. You would be close enough to run up to Hogback, which is a trout lake. Pretty fast paced action and there are some big splake in there. If you are looking for Walleyes, Deer Yard is pretty good usually. BUt I don't know of specific spots. If you are in Lutsen best bet would be to ask one of the old Guys at Clearview and they would likly give you more advise. The Holiday in Tofte is really the only place for bait. They might have some tips for you there also.
