will be out fri through sunday morning...probably going from red door-heard they only want you walking TO THE FIRST BREAK PRESSURE RIDGE...ANYONE ELSE PLANNING ON RED DOOR?

Rainy river ice out 2016

Hey guys ..last year was my first rainy river spring fishing experience,and it was a blast...I'm trying to plan a few trips for this spring.I have spawning walleyes on my mind... What's everyone's experience with past few years ice melt????I think we were up there the first two weekends of april last year out of birchdale....with the late ice this year should I be planning on end of March???????

Fished up river Sat morning 1/10....only had 3"s of ice in some spots...use caution....this cold front will definitely help obviously

Fished Lester on Monday......there were probably 20 30 suckers in the lower portion of lester,below the pool under the tressle.....easy pickings if your looking for em

Figure I'll give an update since no one else has.....drove down for the morning bite...launched outta everts and fished 5am to 9am....jigged the damn for a bit to no avail...picked up 3 eyes 21"-24.5" in 14-16 fow from 645-730 trolling firetiger storm crankbaits....caught 3 saugers out to the left of everts in about 12fow...caught a few white bass and a buffalo as well....saw a ton of white bass being pulled out....it was a great morning on the water..

Just wondering if anyone has been out on pool 4 this week and if they have been hitting after dark?????I assume a lot of the fish are moving towards Pepin......

Have been out on fish lake flowage,caribou,and the st Louis chasing crappie....they are all are ice free and have lower water levels then I've seen in the past few years....good luck out there ... every where pretty much was open by last weekend

Bigwerm,thanks for the info on the bait shop...Only our second time up there from Duluth...Will definitely use that in the future...it was a great day out there...thankfully they were hungry enough for our jerk baits...we didn't see any sturgeon in our area....good luck out there....

A friend and I fished today Sunday from 7am to 1pm out from frontier...4 keepers in the live well and 8 females released from 21"-26"...got there before the bait stores opened so was forced to go artificial..caught one on a 3.5" chartreuse moxi...and the rest came on rapala deep husky jerks in gold color....caught all fish drifting down stream at 1.5-1.8mph....
