Any predictions on when the smelt will start to run? My guess would be opening of fishing, and its gonna be in the rivers. Its gonna be tough to get on park point with 10-15ft of ice on it

Seems like a dumb idea, but since all the big girls swim up they rainy to spawn ice fishing in-front of the public landing by the mouth this time of year might not be a bad idea?

Saw a few shacks braving the ice out infront of the hospital today! Still need some more cold nights and no wind before she really gets some ice.

I wish I could say that being portable was better. Tried every place I know of today and only caught a couple of crappies. A lot of my secret holes where I could go and catch a limit of fish in 15 minutes are gone. The amount of pressure is unreal. The last 2 years I've watched the huge schools of hills and crappies disappear. Especially by the islands. Increased depth maps of fish lake and the internet are ruining the lake. You'll be luck to find a big school of fish anymore. They use to be around every corner a couple years ago.

That is true. I am very proud of my fish, I weighed it when I got home and it broke 10lbs so it's going on my wall. It was a suprise to catch that fish hearing that many haven't gotten big fish. It was just a little disheartening driving 4 hours to catch 7 fish over 2 days, oh well it's fishing

Fished pine yesterday and only got a couple all day with trying multiple depths and presentations anywhere from 17-29fow however I managed to pick up a 29.5 inch as soon as I dropped my lure. Today we made the run to 5 mile reef and picked up 2 saugers and 2 walleyes. Overall the bite was little to non existent. Dont listen to the resorts on how fishing is. We talked to a lot of people with the same story. For anyone going out I wish you luck.

I'm heading up tomorrow and wondering where the best bite is right now. By pine? Zipple? Long point? I'm bringing snowmobiles up so moving around won't be hard, but if there is any place where I can drive my half ton out and catch fish that would be awesome!
