Yeah I got rid of that oval dish I had and bought a portable round one. It worked pretty slick we had it going in about 15 minutes. It came with a case and has everything you need to line it up built on to it!

Both....I'm sure that's not the answer you were looking for but it's the truth. I really can't say I have had more luck fishing one or the other both have shinned on different days.

Rig-the ice is good had around 15" where I was. Call me if u ever make it up ths way!

Shackrat-Keep at it Tonka can be a bear to dail in that is for sure! I put alot of hours in out there as well but trust me when you find the right spots you'll know it! Most of the fish came between 4-7 but we got a couple late night....

PS-when you do find those spots keep your mouth shut if you don't want them over run ........I've been burned on this in the past!

I wanted to head to Milly this weekend but couldn't make it work! So instead I headed to Tonka with my new wheel house with plans of staying over night on Saturday.

We were all set up by 4ish on saturday and it didn't take long before our 1st eye was in the bucket! The bite was on strong for us! We ended up catching around 20 eyes and keeping 10 for the pan in just over a 24hr period. Not bad for the 1st over nighter in the new shack. Plus we deployed the new dish I bought so the Directv was rockin all night as well!!

I haven't drilled holes in either locations you listed but you should be fine I would guess 12-15" The only area of the lake you should have to worry about now are channel areas as well as any cracks they maybe forming.

Be careful buying used wheel houses issues to look for bent axles and rust! If you buy used make sure to have the thing cranked up and down! Get under it and check out the rust as well.

Personally I wouldn't buy angle iron or tube steel (rusts from the inside out over time)! I just bought one made out Alum... light as hell and no rust issues to deal with. You are going to pay a lot more then steel but your long term investment will be well worth it!

I've had to deal with the tube steal issues as well as buying a shack with a bent axle because I didn't know what to look for.......be careful buying used!!

I dip the fillets in milk and egg before the batter if your not doing that it could be your issue also make sure they are cooking long enough.
