Chris,

Without the extension itís actually 33 inches only, but the 12 inch extension came with it when I bought it, not sure if they still do that. The lack of fumes is great, and I also like that it turns slower so when using it in the wheelhouse it doesnt make a big mess with ice shavings flying all over. But you are right, not the perfect setup for the guy that wants to hole hop all day. I have an older Jiffy gas auger for when I am doing that.

I was up last weekend also, I had my extension on my Ion and was surprised how close to the floor of my wheelhouse I was before I got thru. I had the house down on 2*6ís when I drilled my holes.

Walleye Guy,

My mistake, I thought you were more familiar with the lake. Thanks for the reply. If anyone else has any advice it would be much appreciated.

Walleye Guy,

My wife and kids and I were thinking of going to one of those two lakes also this weekend, more than likely on Sunday. I have fished Minnewaska, but have heard good things of Amelia. This is our first year with a boat, so I'm not as familiar with the open water fishing as ice fishing. If you happen to have any info to share it would be much appreciated. I hate asking, but with the kids with they don't always have as much patience as I do to look for fish, and I'm far from a good fisherman. Not looking for secret spots, just general depths, lures etc to start looking. If you happen to be out Sunday maybe we could run into each other. Thanks.

Thanks again for the help. I just bought the unit about a month ago, so I should be ok with warranty and will probably just wait until the season is over, I can get by inserting the card after everything is up and running. I am not the most tech savvy guy, so I was just wondering if there was something on my end that I was doing wrong or if it was indeed the unit. If anybody has any other suggestions I would love to hear them.

Thanks guys for the replies. I took the card out and was able to go to charts and see the base map fine. I then inserted the card and the map came right up. I then shut the unit off and powered it back up and tried accessing the map and it shut down again. It also shut down on me once while it was on the sonar tab before i could even navigate to the chart tab. Thinking it must be the unit????

I just recently got a Helix 7 SI and have been having issues accessing the lake chart when I first start it up. If I have it on a sonar setting everything works well, but when I try to switch to the chart the unit shuts down and restarts. It does this 3-4 times, then usually it will finally work and is good to go for the rest of the time on the water. I have a MN Lakemaster chip, version 7 in the unit. Anybody ever have this happen to them, and if so, what did you have to do to fix it? Thanks.

I have the IC Nuts on my 17 foot Ice Castle and really like it. It's easy to install, and if something were to go wrong with your cordless drill you can put the winch handle back on in no time. I use an 18 volt Ryobi and it handles it decent, if I had a bigger cordless drill I would probably use that but this was all I had. Hope this helps.

Beanne,

I just sent you a PM with his cell number, he did a rod for me about a month ago. He did a great job and is very thorough in finding out what you are looking for in a rod.
