Just got in from fishing Miltona. Had 10 inches of ice where we were at. Lots of pressure ridges out there, so be careful. I would recommend going out in the daylight as these ridges could open up at anytime. 4wheelers running on most of the lake, no larger vehicles. Fishing was slow for us...got a few small ones that went back.

Stopped at the bait shop this morning and they said a few perms went thru the ice on smith. Rumor has it that they are making everyone pull their houses off...be safe out there

Any updates on Miltona ice conditions? Was planning to head up there after Christmas, but not sure if it will be safe for wheelers yet? How's fishing?

Thanks

I would also be interested in an ice update for Pokegama near Pine City. Thinking about giving it a try tomorrow, do I need to bring the wheeler or are people driving out?

Not necessarily a boat landing story but thought I would share anyways. This story took place last weekend.

Two buddies of mine are getting all pumped up for their annual trip up near grand rapids to chase lake trout. They had been disucssing the trip at work for the whole week talking about : getting the boat ready, packing food, beer, discussing fishing tactics etc.

They drive 4 hours north Friday night through heavy snow and blowing winds to chase lake trout near grand rapids. On their way to the boat landing Saturday morning, they stop at the local bait shop to buy their fishing license. The fellow at the bait store informed them that the Lake Trout season doesn't open until the next weekend (May 15) Ended up being a short fishing trip, and a LOOONNGG drive back home.

I just read the same article and came here to see if the debate had started yet. Unbelievable!

Nice mess of fish.

Do any of you alex. area anglers know what the ice out status is on some of the bigger area lakes? I'm primarily interested in Miltona and Ida. Do you think the ice will be off of those by the end of next week?
