Brad makes a good point, the Swedish made Abu/Garcia, Ambassadeur reels only. I have a collection of 6000's and consider them to be just fine for cats around the Fargo-Moorhead area.

But once we head north to Lockport for the big fish, I do find that I am under powered. The 6500 and 7000 class reels have better gearing for the 20-30lb fish. The fighting handle is a nice upgrade too if it does not come with it.

Nice work! Great video. The underwater shots were very cool. I may have to get some of those if possible!

This episode of Somewhere Near Fargo, we are just South of Perham, MN on Ottertail Lake.

I meet up with Mick and Marcy to go chase walleyes. We only got a couple too small to keep, but mostly perch. It was still good to get out in the boat for sure.

All landings were busy, and Mick snagged the last parking spot on the East Ottertail access. Lot's of locals getting their boats in the water for the season, so all landings had steady traffic most of the day.

We were using Lindy Rigs with Shiners, but I switched to a Leech later on with the same luck. Most boats were having similar luck on the shore breaks, river mouths, and center bars.

I can get out roughly 1.5Km with a live video feed back to me on shore, but could cover quite a bit of the lake on the power it can carry.

I don't buzz fisherman very often. I too love not being bothered when I fish, so I wanted to respect that a bit.

There were times that there were plenty more boats on the water. I can't say that I saw too much action from the drone or spotting scope. But a great time to be out either way.

Glad you enjoyed it guys. Good luck this season!

PS: Bump the videos up to 1080p and it's a bit easier to see

Be sure to tag a friend if you see them in this quick clip of fishing on Little Pine

Little Pine lake had it's share of boats on the breaks out front of our place. Here is just a taste.

More videos to come this summer!

Tough kick off to the catfish season this year. Conditions are perfect, water is warming up, minimal flooding, but no fresh suckers to be had for bait!

We are stuck fishing with frozen goldeye until we can catch fresh bait. But the weather is amazing, and we just needed to get on the water.

Plenty of hits tonight, and we boated what I would say is the smallest cat of the season. This clip is just a sample of the season to come.

But be prepared to be filmed, as I plan on running more cameras this season.

I would be one of those river rats that Brad speaks of. I am very temporarily 100% available, so mid-week fishing could be good Especially this week.

If you got access to some decoy sized suckers, I have the gear and boat!

I am tempted to go put in solo tomorrow (Tuesday) I just can't look at more photos of all these fish being caught and I am at home with a boat ready for the water!!

PM me Treble!

Looks like the ice is finally out above and below the dams in the Fargo/Moorhead area. I could be wrong, but I was sure we still had ice on Saturday, above the dam and even between dams at the I94 overpass.

All I know is today, it's wide open, and the gate at the convent landing is open. Although there is a pile of mud on the landing as usual for this time of year.

A few adventurous souls have given it a shot though, as there are tracks in the mud. Not sure how you would get into the boat once you got it in. that shoreline is GOOSE GREASE!!

It's that time of year for reports. Once we get a bit warmer water, the fish will turn on. 50+ degrees all week this week.

Good luck guys!
