I'm headed up this weekend with the wheelhouse. Wondering how much snow they have up there right now. I would like to stay away from the crowds as much as possible, which can be difficult with the wheelhouse. My plan is to go out of West winds or Hillmans.

I will report back with the fishing report. But by the sounds of it it's going to be slow.

I will throw my I just bought a powerhouse 2000 watt generator this year for my wheelhouse. I have used it 4 weekends now. I had it out running in -30 on red lake over the new year and it never missed a beat. Even after it ran out gas overnight, it started on the fourth or fifth pull. It is quiet. I put it in front of my truck while the house is attached and I can barely hear it. I don't know about the longevity of the unit. I guess time will tell.

We got one at around 8:00pm and then one at 11:00 pm. We did get a few perch last night. We are two miles out of west winds south road. It is windy and the temps are dropping. Fishing for us has been slow. Be safe and good luck.

I headed up on Sunday. Went out of jrs. Set up in 11 feet of water. Ended up with 4 keepers missed at few and threw one back. I had a few lookers but no takers. Pulled up and moved north to west winds set up in ten feet and so far nothing. Thinking about moving to try deeper water. As I'm typing this my dad just pulled in a little one. Now I don't what to do😳😳 good luck boys. I will update later.

I was up there this past weekend. Saturday 12/31/ we fished from Noon to about 7:00pm out of JR's and we didn't even manage to get a bite.

Sunday 1/1 we decided on a different approach. We went north to Hillman's. We drove out as far as we could. We ended up out in the middle of nowhere and setup in 13.5 foot of water. We got our limit by five. The fish weren't really picky on the lure. If we marked a fish it hit what ever was down there.

And yes that is TV in the background!! Live TV in the portable fish house is game changing

Here are the pictures

I will be heading up to leech this weekend. I have four of us and two sleds. I prefer to drive the f150 on the lake then go two up on sleds. What are your guys thoughts on truck travel on leech lake this weekend. I'm not a 100% where I'm going to fish. If anyone has a tip on where to start fishing that would be great. I don't care what kind of fish. I just would like to see the top of the bobber get wet!!!

Cheers all

The name of the lake by perry town hall is call pery lake. I have fished it a couple of times. Caught decent crappies on it. We have a cabin in emily. I would not waste my time with roosevelt or emily. There are a couple of lakes off hwy 1. That can be good for crappies as well. They are eagle and mitchell. I have done well on them in the past. If you do fish any of these lakes could you please post an ice report on it. I'm going up in two weeks to fish!!!! Good Luck and be safe!

Here is a chair I have been using for awhile now. It is not the smallest chair out there. but it is very comfortable. have sat in it for hours without a problem.

We got up to red lake around 11:30 am Saturday morning. We stop a west winds for a quick bite to eat. I over heard the bartender mention that the road was closed. I thought oh no now what. So we drove up to road to hillman's. We were able to get out on hillman's road. The wind was blowing pretty damn hard. We managed to drive out 4 miles and setup to fish. The road was in good shape. There was not a lot of spots to fish. We had to fish really close to the road which was fine by me. Dad caught a perch right way. We were marking fish all day. We could not get them to bite. I did catch one nice walleye. It measured out around 16". That was it for fish. The price per pound for walleye was running about $200 per lb for this trip.

It was good to get out one last time for the season.

A Big Thank you to the guys at hillman's for keeping the road open.

From the sounds of it, it was the only open road.
