The fishing around the area has been great lately. Over the last week we have been really targeting bluegills and have been finding awesome numbers and size to say that least. This bite hasnít been lake specific either. Multiple lakes in the area are producing in both size and numbers. Fish are being caught from all different depths but the majority have been coming out of that 16-20 FOW which is a bit deeper than the previous weeks when they were in 13-15 FOW. This is common for this time of year and the bigger gills should stay at this depth until late ice approaches. Obviously this is very lake dependent but the lakes I have been fishing have all been similar as far as the depths the fish are located at. Here is just one of the nice gills that fell to a lindy Bug tipped with a waxie.

One thing that has really made a difference for us lately is paying close attention to the Vexilar. The reason I say this is because the bigger gills have been roaming and are moving very fast chasing food around these mini basins. Another reason is because a lot of the bigger gills have been coming in 2-4 feet off bottom, and without a Vex you would have no idea these fish are there. So next time your out chasing gills donít be afraid to jig a bit higher in the column if your marking suspended marks. Here is nice one that was riding a few feet off bottom and fell to a Toad tipped with a waxie in 18 FOW.

I guess I was invited back to join the forums so here is my most recent update to the bite...

Here is the first fish on a tape. The other one was about the same in length.
