There was ice as of dusk tonight, the winds aren't changing much so it should still be here tomorrow morning. I'll see you there

Just a update before dark. I am on lockdown do to the fact that I can't drive for 2 more weeks do to heart surgery. But from my view of the lake 2 mile up the shore from the French River I now have open water from a hundred yards out to as far as I can see looking east/southeast. Where did all the ice go and open water come from I don't know. Wife will take me for a ride tomorrow so I can do some site seeing. So keep your eyes and ears open out there as it keeps changing every hour out there.

Noel, I hope your heart surgery went well and you are recovering like a champ.

Out of curiosity, what type of setup do you guys use, i.e. rod type, reel type, line, etc? All of this sounds like a blast.

My son and I where I front of Brighton beach 130 fow. My son was reeling up to put fresh bait on and a laker followed him up 100ft and he hit it and lost it right below the ice. I had seen about 15 lakers on my depth finder in 3 hours and none of them would hit it. Then my next one that I seen I figured I didn't have anything to lose so I started reeling and he hit it 50ft off the bottom it was a 28 1/2"er. That was the last fish I seen. I'll definitely be trying that tactic in the morning.

My and my brother went out in front of the Lester river and fished in 32fow and fished 5-10 feet below the ice. Saw 4 schools before 7am and I caught a coho and lost a big herring, saw/graphed no fish between 7am-1pm
