In lakes without a river or creek they will spawn on pretty much any shallow sandy flat in anywhere from 6"of water to about 5 ft. I have seen them spawning while fishing shallow walleyes on a few different lakes

Fished Lester on Monday......there were probably 20 30 suckers in the lower portion of lester,below the pool under the tressle.....easy pickings if your looking for em

We fished by the mouth of the Split rock river and there was a guy fishing for trout with crawlers casting them out in the main lake from shore. He told me he was catching large suckers doing this. No luck with trout though. good luck.

They should be running I saw a lot in a river by Cloquet...Caught some fat prespawn smallies also
