I would like to try fishing for some rainbows in a stream that is near where we will be camping memorial weekend...

Will the same lil cleo that i was catching them on in lakes this winter work in streams? or should i be trying something different?

Over the years worms have been the best for me especially after a good rain. Spoons or spinners can work for sure. But when you go up stream with brush all around you, casting can be a problem [unless brush or trees are not around you close to the stream. Most of the time I use worms with a small split shot or a crawler. good luck.

Indeed, rein is spot on,further no treble hooks allowed on tributary streams.

Check the regs, because I only fish the streams that flow into the big lake. good luck.

Yes,however along the north shore all streams dump into the big lake if thats where you are headed. Also don't forget a trout stamp. To be safe change out the trebles with a single hook.

I think you will be Ok 4 hours away. Spinners work great, keep the treble on, it catches way more fish. Crawler under a bobber is a great option too! Have fun.

Late report but I had some success the last 2 weeks of the WI inland trout season in western WI. I usually use raps and spinners for the bigger fish but this time hook, split shot and worm seemed to work the best. Released several browns that were "keepers" and only kept a few for the smoker. Its a nice treat while out on the ice in the middle of winter (or anytime for that matter)! Some of these fish came in new waters that I never have explored before, with my pb coming in at just under 18". Will have to wait till next year now but look forward to the fall walleye bite and hard ice to come!
