Was up on Superior on 9/2. Brought my nephew out for his 15th birthday. He loves fishing but has never been on big water. Never on Mille Lacs, Red, Winnie, or LOW (except for one ice fishing trip). Went out with Captain John with Optimum Charters. Excellent weather, good times. I highly recommend Optimum Charters. Had some recommendations users of this website, but then had a friend swear by these guys so I decided to go with them. Hoping to go back next spring/summer so we can actually have a chance at some Salmon.

(Full disclosure - one of the other captains for Optimum is my best friend since high school, Captain Rob)

While it would come off as a bit biased to say that I wholeheartedly agree with your review, anyone who is curious can check out the "WCCO Goin' To The Lake" segment featuring this same company: Goin' To The Lake

I see a lot much deserved respect for Captain John but what about his deckhand Jerry? I went on a charter with those two a few weeks back and had fun fishing and a lot of interesting conversation lol.

My first mate on this trip wasn't Jerry. It was a guy also named John. Big John (Captain) and Lil' John (first mate). Lil' John was also awesome. He said it was his first year doing this, and you could not tell. He knew what he was doing while setting lines, netting fish, and could answer all questions asked. Both Johns are some good dudes.
