I am considering picking one of these units up. my question is has anyone bought just the powerhead, and then the 9 or 10 inch auger blade separate? if so how did the unit handle the bigger blade?
Jiffy only sells it with the 6 or 8 inch blade is why I am asking.

The pro-4 lite was not designed for a 9" or 10" auger, thats why its not offered.
The new Pro-44 is.

Common sense says it wasn't "designed" for 9 or 10 inch blades. I am wondering if anyone has used a 9 or 10 inch blade with the unit and if so how well it works.

i bought a pro-4 lite in 2016 and in my opinion the auger is under powered even for the 8" blade. I had issues with mine bogging down a lot at the slightest amount of resistance. I believe that jiffy has made some upgrades to the more recent models, however i still would not recommend using anything wider than the 8" blade they come with.

Common sense will tell you "It doesn't work" that's why they don't recommend it. If you use it it will break the transmission.
But have at it, your choice.

FWIW, I have a eskimo propane 4 stroke purchased 2 years ago with a 10 inch bit. it's a little slow spinning and heavy, but has plenty of power and doesn't stink. Might be something to consider.
