The Wall was never brought up for vote,The tax bill passes 51-49 so 60 wasnt needed there.isnt it 60 votes for fillibuster or clothure?

If the bill passes by simple majority (218 of 435), the bill moves to the Senate. In the Senate, the bill is assigned to another committee and, if released, debated and voted on. Again, a simple majority (51 of 100) passes the bill.

Since Harry Reid used the Nuclear Option and changed the Senate rules, a simple majority of 51 "can" be used in any case, should the Senate majority leader (in this case Mitch McConnell) decide to expand the option.

That is the way I understand the current make up.

Why didn't they GOP get it done when they had complete control? Because unlike the liberal progressives under Obama that rammed Obamacare down our throats; for better or worse the GOP has people who think for themselves and don't take kindly to having their arms twisted to pass terrible legislation. I don't think the wall to protect the citizens of the US is terrible legislation (it is a constitutional obligation of the US government to protect its' citizens) and neither did most of the liberals who are still in congress when they voted for a wall in 2007.
Why hold the federal government hostage over a wall? Because the liberals are like Lucy and the football and they'll say they want to negotiate but then never will. Ask Reagan how giving 3 million illegals amnesty went for getting anything he wanted. Liberals got 3 million more voters and Reagan got nothing.

If you don't want a wall, then place a border patrol agent every 100 yds on the border in a watch tower. Next thing you do is clarify the 14th amendment (that was meant for former slaves) to say that illegals having babies here does not make that child an American citizen by birth. Americans can't illegally enter other countries and then take up residency so why are we letting it happen here?
Finally, I'm getting really tired of the Pope trying to tell America how we should act, especially when it comes to illegal immigration. Until the pontificating socialist Pontiff tears down the wall around his personal city and cleans up the mess in the catholic church, I ask him to kindly shut his pie-hole. BTW, born and raised catholic so I have the right to criticize.

I think if we here on LSF got together, we'd have this immigration thing solved in a day.

The Man behind the wall Brian Kolfage....his Bio. True hero !!!!!

Brian Kolfage, – Mr. Kolfage was born in Detroit and grew up in Waikiki, Hawaii. The Air Force sent him to Iraq in 2003. He was hand-picked to perform security for high profile missions in direct support of IRAQI FREEDOM where he performed high risk combat convoy security operations ensuring all assets remained safe and secure, with zero losses. On September 11, 2004, during his second tour, his airbase in Balad, Iraq fell under rocket attack. He was thrown into the air, losing both of his legs and his right arm instantly. He remained conscious the entire time. The doctors at Walter Reed National Medical Center began to prepare Mr. Kolfage’s family for his death. He remained in a coma for three weeks but made a miraculous recovery. With incredible determination, He walked out of Walter Reed only 11 months after being injured. In 2005-2007 he worked as a United States Air Force civilian overseeing personnel security by administering the foreign travel program: briefed/outlined potential known security threats abroad–zero incidents. He masterfully oversaw a security/force protection training program for 105+ personnel. In 2017, Mr. Kolfage cofounded Military Grade Coffee Company which became a top 50 grocery product on Amazon in 1 year. He worked on Congresswoman Gabby Gifford’s Veterans Advisory Committee, from 2009- 2011. Mr. Kolfage is the most severely wounded Airman to survive any war. He is driven by his love for life, his country and his family. In 2014, he earned his bachelor’s in architecture design at the University of Arizona.

I'm traveling across the country right now. Did you know. Trump was responsible for the rain in Florida this week? He also was responsible for the car running out of gas on I-75 near Atlanta yesterday. I'm checking into it but I think Trump had something to do with the sun coming up today.

One thing I know for sure...........Trump was responsible for getting the wicked witch beat, well or maybe it was the Dems for not having a qualified candidate to run against him. In any event, it makes for a much better story to blame Trump.

Once again this has ran its course and is getting off track. The Liberals bash the President and the Republicans support OUR President and the other way around when Obama was President. Going to let this continue but keep it to the Original Posters intent.........Kirk

Oh by the way I am not a Democrat or Republican but I do support OUR President on building this Wall. I lived and served at Ft. Bliss, TX 41 years ago and went to Juarez Mexico almost every weekend for 3 years even took my family over there and now it's the Murder capital of the world because of drugs and the horrible women trafficking going on. I just think the wall would really help curve all that. The money isn't an issue hell OBAMA SENT 150 BILLION IN CASH to Syria and nobody said nothing. I am even getting off track but wanted to give my two cents.

Keep this on track and respect one another and it's a great topic our members can discuss.........Kirk
