Spent the evening out on a spot we had good mid season success on last season but struck out on early ice this year last night. I got to the lake first and set up in 14 FOW and had a foot of vegetation at the bottom. My friend setup in 12.5 FOW and had 4 feet of weeds where he set. The lake has a very aggressive weed edge and the fish tend to roam on it. He managed 2 for the night in the dense vegetation and I caught around a dozen which should have been more but I had two of the worst tangles in the middle of a couple of schools moving through that forced me to cut and retie which hurt my numbers. Brought a 5 pack home for supper. Fish were all minnow eaters and didn't move in until after dark. 50/50 #10 red hook/1/16 ounce pink forage minnow.
