Out for the day Tuesday 10-6, drill/jig ,drill/jig 3' to 17' only time I crawled into the portable was to eat lunch.
It's unbeleivable the amount of protection one has wearing these new ice fishing suits in comparison to even the old standard wool or Carhart set- ups. This day was a prime example as the wind howled steady all day ,with the new Eskimo legend gear which is not only very comfortable ,but made the wind basically a non-issue. Other than old-man syndrome at the end of the day, this was my most enjoyable day on the Ice this season thus far.
One doesn't appreciate enough the glance one gets when driving/meeting another vehicle on the way out of town, trailer in tow with tracked SXS,,, the young men 20-30-40's in there company vehicle ,,,they know!. Just like I used to know! That rat bxxxxxd is goin Fishin.
So it was on the ice today,,, like a job, drill/jig/move through-out the day drill/jig/move. An occasional perch(baby one),an Oldstar pickler but again drill/jig/move. And the wind blew,,,
3 PM, should I stay or should I go? hour drive home with a hot meal of sirloin/salad/potatas' ?
Check the DNR map (all I got) on my phone ,move again ,miss supper.
Mark fish! hook one! pay dirt! re-bait,,, dump puck full of spikes on ice in wind! What da! no! panic, hands are froze,,,
Recover and sort for eaters rest of day, load-up ,drive home nuke steak and potato, enjoy salad/toast.
If fortunate to make it, we all get our turn,,, this was the account of a Tuesday on a frozen lake in Minnesota,,,and it was worth the wait.

By definition (Oldstar pickler) is a complimentary reference to canning recipe,,,no bashing intended.
