Got the boat wet yesterday for the first time this year. Shockingly, the water was a bitter 42-43 degrees. Nothing going in the shallows of course. We found a small pod of crappies in 15 FOW, same spot I had been on my last ice trip but couldn't stay on them with the wind blowing. Motor worked great, electronics worked great, remembered the plug, no flats on the trailer. All in all, a successful first run.
Naturally we swing to the north side of the lake only to see the 7'6" white rods with bait casters being tossed with swim baits. Dad and daughter. Way to be the example guy...
