Our crew fished the Midnight rush on Bemidji/Irving for fun/tradition. Not a ton of fish seen, or caught. We did manage some, but it wasn't fast and furious. We fished lighted bobbers with shiners, and also pitched jigs. Each tactic was equally effective... Again, the shore-fisherman were thick, and were rewarded, as they had the best luck!
After a short nap we were up and at 'em! We had spurts of fast action, some lulls, but mostly just good old consistent action on this day. We managed enough fish to fill 4 limits, with one 20" fish to end the day. Spottails on a Phelp's Half-faced jig was the ticket all day long.
The weather held back, and we only saw short stints of rain and snow off and on. It wasn't nearly as cold as we thought it would be, which was nice.
Fishing is great in the area, call or e-mail for bookings. We still have dates available!
Nice job on those fish Matt, thats a good start for the opener.

Opener may be a distant memory, but the fishing remains nearly the same! Despite gale-force winds Dootleye and I were able to get out and tussle with the toothy critters. We caught some nice eater walleyes, masses of pike, and the nice fish pictured bleow that Dootleye connnected w/ on his first cast...
The panfish are really starting to move up, and as soon as we get a day without 30 mph winds they're going to settle in nicely.
The Eagles tournament is today, hopefully the anglers are staying warm, and I hope they remembered chap-stick!
You guys must be guilds or bait salesmen or something because most who got out on opening weekend know it was tough and you had to really work to scratch out a few so quit trying to fill your books and tell it like it really is. Fishing on the areas traditional walleye lakes is tough and will continue to be tough until we get more consistent weather. Yes, I have pictures like that too but it doesnt mean it wasnt tough.
