Awesome would be just one of the many ways to descibe the fishing, weather, sceanery. Me and the Misses just returned from a stay on Kabetogama for the week, fishing was incredible. We fished primarly with a jig and minnow, color varied but pink and white was the highest producer, 1/8 oz. to 3/8 oz depending on the wind. Misses Wood holds the largest at 24" and I came close at 23" she always wins, she also had the largest keeper 16.75". Pike were also there they mixed it up also. One windy eve we trolled the bay with cranks to get a couple more. Took a couple boat rides down to Namakan what a awesome trip. Highlights were we seen a Bear swim from one Island to another, and a Island was on fire not sure if it was controlled or a accident. We ate fish everyday except one I had too have some brats, and we have some in the freezer. Ever boil pike in 7-Up than dip it in butter? Good eating. Thanks to our host's the Snyder's at Idlewild Resort one classy family place

Nice report - sounds like a blast.
I've been to Kab/Nam twice in the fall - fishing sucked both times - maybe I should try in the summer.

From the limited number of trips in mid-oct I have made to Kab, I would rank it as my favorite time of year to be there. Few people and excellent fishing has been my experience.
