I have that exact heater and I like it. I was not sure if I should get that one or the big buddy with the two burner/18,000 btu. This heater is all the heater I needed for a quick fish 3. This was a little less bulky. I got it last year about this time of year. I don't think it was 99.99 like that add has.. . More like 79.99 at Mills Fleet F.

I've had good luck with the "Reconditioned" stuff I've got in the past to. I'd buy one if I were you and in the market for a heater.

I made a small cover over my pilot on my Big Buddy with a couple air holes . This really helped with pilot light blow out .

I just picked up a Buddy heater that came with storage bag on sale for $58 . I plan to make a shield for this pilot also .

Is there any possibility of posting a picture of the pilot light shield?

If you use galvanized steel , be sure to burn the zinc off in an open area , not in your shack or it could make you ill. Be careful drilling your rivet holes not to hit anything under the tin.

I plan to redo it and leave out the middle hole , as it will still blow out if you use it outside in the wind .

Basically the covers Highsparks has shown are to keep the heater lit from the little drafts and such. It does get to be a pain relighting everytime a door or vent is opened and a slight breeze blows the pilot out !!! I've added these on my buddy heaters as well and they work great! But, be careful in extreme windy conditions with this because while I was testing it outside after dark, I noticed flames started to shoot out from the inside of the heater(WAY to much oxygen for the flame ). Might be a good idea to maybe just shut the heater off if your gonna have it exposed to really high winds for a prolonged period. Better safe than sorry ya know...

Great idea; Thanks for the pictures.

I would think a shield could be made from aluminum also.
