Our Captain BDlucas with his amazing boat control, his buddy Joe and I spent the weekend in beatiful Baudette, enjoying some of the fine fishing, listening to the sounds of gunfire in the background and catching some nice Rainy River eyes. Saturday and Sunday we focused on the River. probably a good thing on Saturday as it was a bit breezy even in the river. Sunday was a half day trip as our Rookie was a little overwelmed with the fish catching,. (see pic)
Fishing ended up being pretty slow for us both Saturday and Sunday in the River,. I would go out on a limb and venture to say the shiners aren;t in their full run stage at this point.
Saturday we ended up with some nice fish including a 21 and 23"er and a bunch of small 7-10" saugers to booot.
Sunday we woke up to skim ice covered shorelines and a few more fish however the area where we were fishing the fish were not as populated as Saturday.
May have to make one more trip up before ice Season.
Ice is on its way Pic
Ahhh a little to small to keep
The worn out rookie (first time jigging)
also caught the most fish.

Rick,
Thanks for the detailed report.

There is nothing like fishing in a boat with warfare
going on all around you.

It kind of keeps you awake when the fishing is slow.

Sounds like a beautiful day on the water, and catching walleyes to boot.
Thanks for the report!
