i've been in that area alot this year and ice thickness varys quite a bit. for the most part it's 8 to 10 but when you move closer to shore or over some structure it can be much thinner. i was out on lindstrom last night and found some ice that was still only 5 inches. heavy slush in spots so i doubt you can pull that taj-mahall out with just a 4 wheeler.

I was out this holiday weekend on the eastern bay of Lindstrom (east of Beach Park) - was ~ 10" in the middle (for the 4 holes I dropped).

Also on Sunday, I saw two trucks (full size Ford and a Jeep Cherokee) out in the middle of the lake near eachother; nobody sank. =)

edit: the lake was singing quite a bit on Sunday, too (all its cracks and bloops noises from the ice growing).

That was my brother and buddy in the trucks. I was otu in the bay with my Jeep Wrangler and trailer. There is a solid 13" in the bay by the park. Lots of trucks on the ice. Fishing was slow.

Agreed, it was pretty slow the entire weekend. We were only using grubs; and nothing to show for it the whole weekend for us.
