Made it out fishing for a little while yesterday afternoon.
The lakes around our area currently are full of snow. Probably about 12 inches or more in most places. There are areas of slush also. Best bet for travel is a snowmobile if you have it. Otherwise, you are going to want to stay on packed down trails, I helped a few guys get their wheelers unstuck yesterday. Hopefully we can get a melt or very cold weather to take care of the slush. Ice is still 10-12" in most places.

As far as the fishing goes, my dad and I did OK and had a nice meal of sunfish, fishing a weedy flat in about 8-10' of water with small jigs and waxies. Aggresive fish, lots of action.

Looks like a little effort to get out there, but good to hear ya got on some fish! Did you wheeler/sled out or were ya on foot?

You're right though....we could use either a good melt or a solid freeze. Either melt the snow down or make the ice thick enough to drive on. As for me, I won't be driving anywhere in the near future. Damn tranny went out on me the other day and I'm out of yet another $1500+.

I hope with the cold coming the slush will freeze. Went to a lake outside of Litchfield last night and was about ready to leave with only one bite and several swim-byes, then the fish moved in (crappies). Ended up with 6 crappie then sloshed my way off the lake. I had a pool of water at my feet that worked as a livewell.
