Mike... Joe has done more for the fishing industry and Mille Lacs than you can ever hope to accomplish. Mike... I consider you a freind... but please think a little before attempting to attack a prestigous person in the fishing industry.

Dave, excactly what is it that the Felligies have done beyond guiding and exploiting the Lake of Mille Lacs?

I agree, the fellegies are just a name with opinions and such. Yeah they do their job well but what have they done to uplift fishing minnesota? Im not bashing them but lets not put them on top of a ladder either. But with that said, back to the real point, how much longer does this bs go on, its been said here a couple times, it is 2010!!!!! laws are made for today not yesterday. Unless we fix the indians laws statewide and soon, this is going to grow into bigger problems, hunting and fishing. Something bad is going to come out of this soon, and will be the result of someone doing something stupid when tempers erupt!

I don't always agree with the Fellegy's, but if it wasn't for the fellegy's much of the crap that happens with the netting would go unreported in the media. We are lucky to have advocates for the lake such as Steve and Joe. Think about it!

Please cite references of their exploitation of Mille Lacs?

My point being... their publications bring awareness to issues that would otherwise go silent. They are important issues. Whether you agree or disagree with what they print... they are doing their part and then some to bring up the discussions in the public. That, to me, shows they do alot for the fishing industry and Mille Lacs.

I can't believe what I'm reading..Eyepod! In my opinion, the Fellegy's, and many others have kept us informed through the print media such as The Mille Lacs Messanger, The Tribune, Outdoor News, and various on-line venues such as this one, etc on what really happens in our world. They tell it like it is. Not the canned BS we get on a daily basis because of the fear of not being "Politically Correct" like most of your so called pro-fishermen and outdoor writers. Who for the most part, seem to be so gutless when the subject matter becomes controversial....like this one.
My point is, let's not poke sticks at the very people that are fighting and being vocal about the same issues we are all very concerned about. We all need to focus our efforts on ending this travasty we all know as gill netting and work TOGETHER for equal rights for everyone. That's all we really want.

My apologies to Joe and Steve Fellegy. My issue with them is unwarranted in this discussion. The problem that I have with them being the "voice" of MN anglers on this issue, is that if it doesn't affect Mille Lacs, I never heard them complaining. I'm probably completely wrong on that account and really have nothing to base it on. So, again, I apologize for the unwarranted criticism.

Mike, I really think that Minnesota needs a group that represents its anglers and our favorite fish species. I'm glad you were able to see through the self serving, MN Walleye Alliance's agenda and went so far as to resign from its board. I would gladly support you, Steve, Joe or whomever else in a group that truly has concern for all of Minnesota's waters, especially where tribal netting is an issue.

Keep up the good fight, the more and louder the voices, the better!

Mike Beighley

Maybe Steve and Joe are guilty of favoring Mille Lacs, but I think we're all guilty of the same thing. I rarely look at the Mille Lacs forum, but I check the Bemidji forum 3x per day. I care more about what happens to Lake Bemidji than Mille Lacs myself, it's only natural, I live a mile from the lake!

I don't chime in on these issues often, and I don't care to divulge my feelings on any of this crap at this time. It looks like it isn't going to happen anyway...

STRANGE IDEA,
Lets take all the cars parked at the casinos and alt the trucks and campers parked on red , leech , winnie, and park them at the landings on bemidji. They can still fish but make them park on the streets and show these "fiisherman " they arent the only ones to show solidarity of their rights
