Any baited funnel trap should catch bullheads. They sell them at cabelas or gander.

there is a plan to build your own here

Thanks for posting this, good job! Bullheads are by far my favorite bait to fish with, now all i need is a good tank setup to keep 'em in at home...what do you use for this?
Do you recommend feeding them something if you are planning on keeping them for extended periods of time?

Also curious how many guys out their are clipping the "spines" on the bullheads when using them for bait vs. just leaving them...what do you think?

Love Bullheads for bait, they never stop kickin it!

Finding the 9-10 inch bullies are pretty easy in my area here.. very easy to catch by hook and line with some worms.. it's the smaller 4-6 inch ones that I have a hard time finding any number of. Usually I like to have atleast a dozen or so on hand if I am going out flathead fishing.. and can never get enough of that size to take with.

Does anyone know of any place that has the smaller sized bullies in good amounts so I can get some by hook and line?

Just curious, but isn't transporting them illegal along with using them as bait? Especially if the lake you're fishing doesn't have them, I sure wouldn't want to introduce them into the lakes.

Fatter 1,

Yes, you can legally transport and use bullheads for bait as long as you consider the following:

Pg. 3 of the 2010 MN Fishing Regs. defines bullheads not over 7" as minnows

Pg.70 states "licensed anglers may take minnows or leeches for their own use with dip nets, traps or seines"

There are certain requirements and as far as allowable size for dip nets, traps or seines to be aware of that I am not going to list here but can be found in the regs.

Same with transporting them, it is legal within certain parameters which are also listed in detail within the regs.
