All-in-all, it's one hell of a sport and not for everyone. Sometimes that first fish can take forever to catch, like it did me. Got pretty frustrated for a while there.

And like Shortline said, "the more you catch - the more you kill." Unfortunately, that's part of the game.

Thanks for the explaination of the 15 minutes. That makes sense. You're fortunate to get that fish. Again, congratulations. Nice one.

Nice Fish!! Good work wold like to see pic of mount when finished

I'll post it up in 6 months under this thread. The taxadermist showed me his other muskies and he did a good job keeping them true to the Leech Lake strain of fish. So I'm hoping for the best.

Very nice fish, sounds like quite the experience. Be proud of that fish and my hat is off to you doing everything you could to best care for it..

I went out that Thursday between the wild Thunderstorms and the Tornado warnings with a good friend (my lucky extreme net man) in the Bemidji area. We had a dry window from 2:30 to 5:30 to fish. I was blessed with a very fat 43.5 incher caught on a wind blown shore using a big inline spinner.

Good fishing,

Good fishing,

Nice work. Yeah I stayed away from the spot I caught the fish all day because I didn't want to waist the day time hours getting my butt kicked out there and no fish. A front moved in and the pressure started to rise and moved into the wind for the very first time that day. Probably just a coincidence but caught the fish 10 minutes later, gave me some confidence anyways.

I was lucky enough to catch another big lunge this past weekend. I was throwing a grn/blk Supermodel, the lake was pretty stained from the rain on Friday night and thought I need to go goddy with my bait selection. The very first time that day I bubbled my bucktail on the surface and moved into my "L" about 12ft from the boat she rolled it. Everything went to plan from there. After she was in the net, having a good release was the top thing on my mind and it was accomplished. My father also caught the largest muskie of his life this past weekend, a 45''. Pretty awesome weekend for the Anderson family.
