When do you guys expect a smelt run on the lower shore?

Come on guys! Is it really not running yet. Not going to over fish you, just want to pick some to fry for my wife and explain her why I so wanted to go there!!!

Stoplis. No word yet that they are running in the local rivers. I'll keep you updated. A lot of times down at park point on the lake side guys have some success saining Thx

Thanks guys keep me posted! I think with this cold front we have another week or two! The park point you're talking about, is it Indian Point Park south of Duluth?

Those DNR reports updated only twice a week. And smelt run lasts two three days, sometimes you can just miss it if you rely only on DNR reports. But I really think time is coming. Makes me itchy, want to jump in my waders and run the car all the way to the lake shore!!!

I have not heard any local talk on them. Last year was very poor and who knows with this goofy winter/spring. The rivers are already to almost to a trickle. We need rain in them there hills!

went out tonight to give it a shot and it seems we were just hitting on some smelt fry... so hopefully that was just the first wave of em and hope to see some action either within a few days or week.
