Spent Wed afternoon and Thursday all day about 3 miles out with Walleye Retreat. The fishing was slow for LOTW standards, but the 3 of us iced about 40 fish in the day and a half. Many small saugers, one pig perch, one 26+ walleye. Ended up taking home 10 saugers. About an even split between set lines and jigging, most of the fish were caught between 10 and 2. Rainbows caught the bigger fish and horizontal jigs worked best. Had to cut the trip short with the incoming weather, but a ton of fun and a gorgeous sunrise on Thursday
We talked to some fisherman that were 5 miles out and another group that was 7 miles out and they had about the same success, maybe even a little worse. I think we were just in a slow pattern or maybe we should have been better at our hobby.
I had the same experience with bite times this last weekend, we just got back last night. Definitely ours were the same time for catching, few sauger would hit just after dawn, mostly tullaby. But we did limit on walleye and sauger both with just the two of us. Good fish!
