I'm looking to buy a stator for my Polaris 500 Sportsman 4 by 4 2002. I found one on-line for $225. Polaris wants $500. Anyone know if I can get one locally? thanks good luck.

No I haven't. I went on-line to see local places but so far all I see is repair places but they get their parts sent to them and at a higher price than I can get on-line. I'd love to buy local even if its a a few buck more. I have a friend who can put it in. good luck.

Years back Dennis Kirk in Rush City had lots of parts for snowmobiles - I have heard they carry ATV parts, maybe a chance they have your stator? I have never dealt with them so I cannot give a rating on them...

Looking for the "cheapest" price, look online. Most of the times I have ordered parts online, I have received them in less than 5 days. If you want to spend more money on the part, sometimes double, go to the local parts dealer. You might have to wait for it anyway, as most parts dealers don't carry the inventory anymore. They order the part at half the price and have it shipped and charge you the full price.

No matter where you get it, make sure it's new and not used.

Art's parts in Wisconsin is the best to deal with. Super cheap, and they have everything. They're really good figure stuff out on the phone with. Plus they ship fast and super cheap, if I remember right they shipped me a cylinder for free, with the return core charge shipping free too.
