I've been using my trusty FL-8 for years. Considering an upgrade this year. Thoughts on the FL-22 vs. Marcum LX 5 vs. Hummingbird ICE 55 vs. Lowrance Elite 5. Go.

Me too on the FL8.

So I gotta ask. What do you see as an upside for all of those bucks that you will spend?

Bander, I guess that's the question. Do I need anything more than the FL-8? I like the idea of the bottom lock. Hazzard, FL-28 is just a bit much. $499 is stretching it since my FL-8 keeps ticking after getting battered for years.

I have FL8 and ice 35. I think the 35 is great and it has bottom lock and zoom features in it for a lower price

Ice 55, nothing to knock on the others just most bang for your buck. Only way I wouldn't go is the Elite 5.,

I had a fl-8 for years and wouldnt hesitate to keep using it. I stumbled upon a great deal for a fl-28 and its a great machine. If you have the money to spend get a unit with zoom. I wouldn't waste your time doing the Elite 5.

For me it is just personal preference. I had a buddy who had one set up and it seemed like there was a slight delay with reading your lure/jig on the screen. The vexilar & marcum units are real time. Things may be different now but that is my reasoning.
