Any ice reports for the area? I'm itching to get out and fish, how are things coming along? Thanks

Can't speak as of today but last weekend a small 400 acre lake near Aitkin still had an open water in the middle of the lake. I heard it has since "frozen over" but guessing it's not safe ice.

Thank you for the info! It's much appreciated. I'm going to give it a try on Saturday, and report back on my findings.

make sure you have your ice picks. I was up today, ice looks very bad, lots of water and slush on top. my lake only 300a and it had a area with open water in it. there was a couple out on it fishing on the other side, not me, I will wait another week as temps are going to finally drop.

my guess is the snow will not help on better ice, and more snow in the forecast.

my lake is near palisade.

it was the warm weather melting the snow on top of the ice that was causing the water on top. probally moving water or geese that was keeping the open area open.

I have been here for 19 years, and never seen the ice in this shape this late in the year. last year we were ice fishing by thanksgiving.

I fished a 600 acre lake near Palisade this weekend and there was a solid 4" of Ice. The only slush or water on the ice was where we used a chisel to check the thickness on our way out the 1st time on Friday.
