Small lake near Palisade 39 degrees last Sunday no fish..

Farm Island main lake 40, back of bays 43 on Tuesday 1 bass in bay.

Wed. main lake about 41 back bays up to 45, 2 crappies in 9'.

Thursday main lake 43 back bays as high as 47 1 crappie in 8' 2 small bass in 3'.

Friday main lake 43 back bays as high as 50, 1 crappie in 8'.

Fish hadn't move into the bays or we didn't find the right spots. Fished right up to shore in some areas and only caught crappies in 7-10'. Crappies caught were nice.

Saturday, had to pick up wife at airport!!

Fished Farm Island on Thursday. Water temp main lake 48 back bays as high as 56. Still no active crappies. Moved to Bay Lake on Saturday. Water temps OK, but only caught 5 crappies. Several bass and a few hammer handles. Moved to a small lake closer to Aitkin and filled out on Sunday. Water temps were comparable to the bigger lakes, but the fish were active in the smaller lake. ???????????????

it's still early! most years the ice don't go out till the 17/19th of april... with that said, early ice out and lack of snow/rain it will heat up sooner then normal! everyone has the itch to begin the warm temp fishing season with open water after a short hard water season... by this time next week fishing will be back with a bite along with the long nosed human hunter's for their share of blood. tight lines, sunken floats and ripping reels with short line left! fish on fish safe!
