The warm weather yesterday seemed to accelerate the movement of crappies toward extremely shallow water. We found fish in 1-3 feet of water over developing vegetation. Water temps broke 60 degrees on the small lake I was fishing. Biggest crappie was a 14.5 inch slab, along with countless others between 10 and 13 inches. Looks like we are getting very close to the spawn now, as many of the males we caught were getting very dark in color. All fish were C+R. Bring on the opener! How have others been doing this Spring?
