Duck season starts tomorrow. I'm just as excited as the next guy. Please be safe and hunt with a partner if possible. No duck is worth a life.

I'll have a report up tomorrow. Scouting was a success, so I'm very excited to get on the water.

It is going to be an interesting opener. With the huge increase in rain fall there are many flooded fields allowing the birds to be anywhere. After scouting the concentration of birds is a little tougher to find. Thunderstorms are predicted to roll across the state at some point so be aware of your surroundings and allow ample time to avoid being stuck out there in heavy rain, high wind or lightning. For those out on the water please take caution as with the increase of water levels comes increased risk. Sure you may have gained a great understanding of a body of water last season but add another 3"-10" it can have a whole different feel and hide those once prominent obstructions. Good luck everyone.

Not a good start for us. A lot more hunters in our area... Been hunting the same public swamp for years but got outstead by a group this year... Respected the public land hunts and had to move...to our third option, causing us to miss out on prime shooting. Hit the swamp by 7:30! Ouch! Bag over half limit with with four guys. Not a lot of ducks and super low on geese. West of Morris area.

1 shy of our limit. First hunted public in the morning then jumped the wood ducks on the family farm. More birds and more shooting than normal too. South Otter Tail Cty. Headed out back at it

We saw a lot less ducks flying at the same spot this morning but heard just as much shooting around us as yesterday. Only 2 mallards for us and not many more opportunities.
The wood ducks spot did not disappoint.

Hunted a field on the edge of some water opening morning. The birds took a pounding on the way out and were not too cooperative. But we ended up getting a decent pile of geese and 3 bonus wood ducks hunting the edge of a burnt wheat field. Thousands of geese flying around this weekend. Did not see as many ducks as I was expecting though. Still, a pretty good start to the season.

Opening day for us was a complete bust and we couldn't have been more surprised. We went to public WMA my buddies had scouted a few weeks ago and said they had seen a lot of birds. Come opening morning we were the only ones out there and rightfully so as we got 0 chances at any birds.

On Sunday we tried a new spot we've never gone to on the Mississippi. It was the right choice as we shot an easy limit of woodies and one mallard. Only downside was the only ducks we were seeing were woodies so we couldn't shoot anymore, but I'm not going to complain.

So so start here too, dang skeeters were thick out in the field, can't imagine you guys sitting in the cattails, woodies and mallards, surprised no teal around this year, just a few 100 geese around my area, they had a private cut sweet cornfield to feast on.

Cool weather this week should bring more birds in,noticed high flying geese heading south east yesterday and this morning, looked like lesser which are rare this early.

Limited 5 guys on a mixed bag of teal, mallards, and a bonus tagged woodie. SW MN slough. The skeeters were so thick I am sure I limited out on those as well as I am sure some were inadvertently shot as well. haha
