Drove from Cokato to Montrose today and took a look at a couple lakes. Ice on some none on others.

Dutch and Little Waverly were locked up

Howard Lake and Waverly had just a little ice in the bays. I am sure the winds last night were not kind to them.

We're locked up here in Zimmerman. I walked out 30 feet yesterday. Didn't drill any holes, but may have to set some tip ups tonight

Went out to the lake down the road from my house today, there was 5.5 to 6'' of ice. That surprised me,
the fish didn't corporate at all only two gills in 3 hrs.

Pelican (Wright Cty) is the lake I am most interested in figuring out this ice season. Does anyone have any tips as far as where to start or what to look for out there? I know there are big crappies in there and they\'re easy to find in the spring, but where do they go in the winter???

Any help is appreciated.

We were out on Rock and Ramsey today with about 10" to 12" of ice. People were driving out with full size trucks. Too early for that if you ask me.

We saw trucks out on the ice out on a Fairibault area lake yesterday. We were told 12-14 inches in some areas, but where we drilled it looked to be only about 9 inches. Not enough for me to go driving all over the lake yet with my 1/2 ton unit. Too many people taking chances and we know what the results may be someday. We go through this every winter season, as people are impatient and take chances with their rigs...and their lives!

Plenty of ice on the lakes where I fish here in Wright. Yesterday on Pelican, there were quite a few full size trucks on the ice. Everywhere I fished, there was at least 14 inches of ice, and some with quite a bit more!

Sugar Lake is producing some nice crappies and walleyes on the North end of the main lake in 50 FOW (yes 50)
Glow Jigs - tipped with a crappie minnow
10"-16" of Ice.
But please use caution if traveling with a vehicle
This is a special Regulation lake and has a 5 fish limit for crappies.
But some nice walleyes can be mixed in with the crappies.

Good Luck
Robbo
