So today I had time to run down to cabelas and purchase the helix 7 ice model. Only problem I am having is that it was there display model because that was the only one that they had on hand. Once I got it home and took a look at everything in the box I realized that it was missing the instructions for the head unit. I have not had it on the ice yet but it seems like everything is working correctly except the GPS will not show my position. When I power it on it says that the GPS has no connection. Do any of you guys have any idea on what part of the menu I need to go to to make this work or what I could do for trouble shooting? Thanks in advance. By the way unless I did it incorrectly I did try it in simulator mode and normal mode and I also did install the lakemaster chip and in simulator mode it is reading it.

It may not pick up gps if you in the garage or house.

Also, register your unit and get the latest software update for your machine!

They have the manual on the humminbird website.

it should lock a position pretty fast, but in a building, it may take a bit; but under the menu system, go to the setup tab, and under GPS output, I set mine to 10 Hz

I have it registered and all updates were already current. I also changed it to 10 in the settings and still not getting a reading. I think its time to just try and call humminbird unless anyone else on here has any ideas.

Thanks

you could try doing a restore to default settings. with all of the fingers touching the helix at cabelas, someone could have jacked up the settings. menu-setup-restore defaults

*and make sure when the unit is booting up, it is starting under normal mode, not simulator. you will have about 3-5seconds to hit menu when the helix is booting up and you will see 3 options to choose from, normal, simulator, or system status, make sure its on normal. since thats a floor model, it maybe defaulting to simulator
