My dad and I booked a day trip for Monday. I'm pretty excited to get out. Let me know how it goes for you Friday.
Here is the report from the website:
12/28/16 Fishing Report
"Here’s your latest report from Lake of the Woods with Captain Tim “Wingnut” Hill: Ice fishing around Rocky Point has been good the past few days. We are fishing the reefs 3-4 miles out, as well as the mud flats. Most of the houses are in 26-31 feet of water. The bite has been aggressive with a few large walleye being released. The storm that came through put a blanket of snow on top of the ice which stalled the ice making around 15 inches. Best of luck out there!"
Just got back from three days of fishing at Arnesens. We averaged about 40-50 fish a day with a lot of smaller fish in the mix and the most active period was from 10am till 2pm. We were able to catch enough nice fish each day to bring home 3 limits of Walleye and Sauger. Fish weren't real aggressive and dead sticks out produced jigging by two to one. We fished 28 ft out by gull rock. Seemed like most people were having about the same success.
Thanks for the report bigdogvw; sounds like a good trip. Was there a presentation on the dead sticks that worked best - jig and minnow, hook and minnow, whole minnow, just the head, color, etc? What kind of minnows were you using?
