Any recent information on the crappie bite on Long? There used to be a private landing just north of Captains that was open to the public. Can anyone tell me if it's still there and open for use? Thanks! Jim

I was there at first ice cause it's so shallow and was first to freeze. Walked out of the north access. Marked a bunch that wouldn't take then caught one and it was a bull head . Not how I wanted to start the ice fishing season. My buddy said it has to be bad luck to catch a bullhead on the first fish of the year.... Then I caught another one.

I was there last weekend for the first time in a couple years. If 3 inch bullheads and crappies are your thing then go for it.

I am pretty sure people just use that "access" because they want to not because it is open to public
I may be wrong though I always use the real public access because I know that I have permission to use it

I got out and got 3 2" bullheads and one 9" er. Two very small crappies. Marking lots but pretty sure they were bullheads. Probably won't try it again for awhile!
